Xbase on Rails

integrate the most productive development system
for windows desktop applications with class-leading user-experience
and the most well thought-out web development framework
for web applications with the same software design patterns

  why Xbase and Rails

From a developers point of view Xbase and Rails share the two most important software design patterns - for data access and for user interface. Both use a object relational mapper for the data access layer with a navigational principle. Xbase calls that workarea - the concept introduced by dBase 1979. Rails's ActiveRecord is suprisingly similar to use, but more powerful. Both use a asynchronous userinterface in which a form with all elements is build before an engine controls the interface as a whole returning all input combined.

  add Rails to Xbase

You have a well working Xbase application and need to add web access? Use the leading framework "Ruby on Rails" for this. Integrating the data access with your Xbase application and programming with the same paradigms leads to the most productive and effective way to expand your application to any browser-capable device. Use the free ADSlocal server to access DBF-Files directly by the rails application server or migrate them with Xbase-2.0's upsize tool to Postgres and have native access with both systems.

  add Xbase to Rails

You have a Internet application based on a modern framework like Ruby-on-Rails or Django and the need for some special power function with a class-leading desktop interface? Don't compromise on the development tool with slow, ineffective solutions. Xbase++2.0 compiler produces fast native Win32 binaries, which run on every Windows platform - also on 64Bit. It is also easy to use the new DataObjects to resemble ActiveRecord's support of SQL-free access - with full support of the standard parent-child relations.
